VICE News covers MucoJet technology

“The device being tested, called MucoJet and developed by UC Berkeley researchers, keeps it in the mouth, against the inside of the cheek. The capsule then releases a high-pressure stream of liquid molecules and activators from the immune system to the immunologic cells inside the mouth. The target is an area known as the buccal region, so many infections enter the body. It is rich in immunologic cells, but a thick mucous layer makes it difficult to affect them with existing technology. Although it has only been tested on animals so far, it has proven to be effective in stimulating an immune response.”
